Retailers frequently stock World of Warcraft, so I can't imagine they'd turn their nose up at another MMO that starts at boxed- if anything, they'd probably be more receptive to something microtransactiony because they can then sell the points cards, much like they do with the Facebook games, or tie it in with that "GAME Wallet" thing they started shortly before the event.

Exciting times either way- it's going to be interesting to see what happens when the two business models are crashed into one another.

SITE: "Games retail needs Pre-Owned" - Blockbuster

The amount of money charged by publishers doesn't really help retaillers. Blockbuster stores have two types of "pre-owned" stock, ones that are traded in by customers (who are normally trading in their old, unplayed games against new titles) and ones that are transfered from being rental copies to being "PRP" (I've no idea what that means, we're also supposed to take Online Passes out of the boxes before they're rented out so we can give them to customers who buy the ex-rental ones), we're asked to sell the PRP copies before the "Pre-owned" copies.

Thankfully in our store we at least try and keep a balance between the two, which I've voiced is what games problem was all along, we've a decent amount of new copies of games released from about September onwards and a few that have been lying around since before then, if those are bought and the company has them in stock still then we automatically get replenished. I've no idea how GAME did their business in regards to restocking on new items, but we also transfer stock out to other stores if we have too many copies of a particular game pre-owned (i.e. Warhammer Space Marine, which we had about 20 copies of at one point).

Obviously this all depends on management really, both at a store level and as a company, our manager tends to listen to her staff, she's also quite fussy over the quality of whats taken in on pre-owned so we don't tend to have many games now that are tatty and clearly "used".

I've been critical of Blockbuster within the walls of the store I work at, especially in regards to games retail and in particular when GAME first had trouble stocking particular titles with Blockbuster seemingly slow to take advantage and not carrying enough stock, but I'll give them credit they've created "Champion" roles for both films and games and assigned store staff members to them (I'm one) who feed information to both our District Managers and the rest of the stores in the district that we operate in.

Instead, because it's kind of the same thing (like when I bought Fatal Fury on the Megadrive because Street Fighter 2 was £60 and FF was £8 in the local video shop), I loaded up Dungeon Siege 3. It meant redownloading it, which was stupid as I have the disc for it, and let me tell you, it is NOT the same thing. And to add salt to the wound my game saves have vanished, possibly over-written by the new install, possibly deleted when I uninstalled. The game is a steamworks and I have steam cloud saves, which were probably an hour further back than they should have been

I stand by that the final chapter is a bit of a mess, and there feels a lot less to do, but I got a couple of good fights at the end so it's not all bad.The plot, it turns out, is fairly simple (all about grasping for power) but the way it's presented at times is really confusing. It'll also be interesting to see what carries over in to the 3rd game, I sold a book that I could have kept, I hope I dont regret that come the 3rd game

They put out a patch the other day which may or may not have been to fix that, but when I loaded it up again it was running nice and smooth.
It's not a very good demo truth be told, one short track to represent the variety of race types in the game. It seems fine, but there's a reason I've not done a First Play of it, simply you cannot draw conclusions from it.
